Duo Savannah: Bio

Julie DeMott - flute

Julie has over 20 years of professional performing experience. She is currently a member of the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra, where she performs on 2nd flute and piccolo. She holds a master of music degree from Indiana University, where she studied with Peter Lloyd and Kathryn Lukas. From 1994 - 2003 she performed in both small and large ensembles and as a soloist throughout the Eastern region of the United States and parts of Europe as a flutist in the United States Air Force. She performed on over 10 Cds; one as soloist. She has performed with regional orchestras in the Southeastern region of the United States as both a member, guest, and as soloist. She currently resides in Savannah GA. Her personal philosophy regarding the power of music can be summed up in the words of American orator Robert G. Ingersoll ~ "Music expressed feeling and thought, without language; it was below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words."

Tom Godfrey - guitar

Tom is enjoying his second life as a musician. His current love is jazz guitar, but his experience as a classical trombonist with groups such as Ohio Light Opera has made him a versatile and creative musician. Tom is in great demand as a jazz guitarist in the Atlanta area, and he can be performing with the AVG Trio, InTownBand and as a freelance soloist where he is known for his unique arrangements of classic jazz standards. He is glad to arrange any song you would like at your wedding (no matter the genre) for an additional fee.
While most guitarists have rock star dreams, Tom's goal is to be the #1 background guitarist in Atlanta. Taped to his computer is his mission statement: "I will make a quiet, comfortable living playing the music I love."
